Camping might not immediately spring to mind as the most romantic activity in the world, but if you’re looking for something interesting to do with your partner, it could make for a wonderful surprise.

Some of the best memories that you’ll make together can be found in the middle of adventure. From setting up camp to adding the final touches, here’s how to have a glamping trip that leaves you both feeling closer than ever before.
1. Use a sturdy shelter
Firstly, it’s time to ditch the tent. Glamping means indulging in a little bit of luxury while still taking part in the classic outdoors experience.
Still, you don’t need to go without your home comforts on a glamping trip. The first and perhaps the most important step is to make sure that your sleeping shelter is permanent and durable.
This goes beyond just a backpacking tent and could look like a bell tent, a summer house, or perhaps even a campervan. If you’ve booked a glamping site, you might even be lucky enough to stay in a purpose-built pod.
These make brilliant options and will be sure to keep you dry if there’s a shower outside.
3. Make it home
Homely touches play an important part in setting glamping apart from camping.
If you can pack plenty of things in your car, you should try to bring anything that could make your overnight stay more comfortable and convenient for both of you. This could include (but might not be limited to):
- A thick duvet
- Your own pillows
- A gas stove and a kettle
- Fresh ingredients for breakfast and dinner
- Lanterns and string lights
- A fire pit with firewood
- Glassware for your evening drinks
These luxuries usually can’t be taken on a camping trip because they’re either too delicate or too heavy to carry in a backpack. But this is the joy of glamping: you can really get carried away to make it feel special and cosy.
3. Bring your own entertainment
You might be happy with each other’s company, but going glamping gives you plenty of opportunities to have some fun doing other things too.
Many couples liked to play cards, largely due to their portability and universal rules, making it a great conversational tool when meeting new friends at a campsite. If you love music, why not pack a portable turntable and choose a selection of your favourite vinyl records to help you unwind throughout the evening?
Since you’re glamping, you might even want to bring your laptop to watch a feel-good film on Netflix when you’re all tucked up under the duvet. After all, there’s nothing more soothing than hearing the rain pattering on the roof while you’re warm and dry.
4. Don’t forget the essentials
Remember, glamping is still a type of camping after all.
It’s easy to get carried away with the luxuries, but you’ll still need the basic supplies like your toiletries and clothes. If you’re staying at a campsite, bringing your own shower gel and shampoo with you could be an absolute lifesaver.
The same goes for your personal appliances like hair straighteners and hairdryers.
With all these things taken care of, you’ll be on your way to a wonderful weekend together. Have fun!
