It’s time to start planning your travels for the year ahead. Or at least the next few months as I know planning ahead is difficult right now! I love starting the year with a winter city break or jetting off for some winter sun and February is my favourite time to travel, since it’s such a rubbish month at home.

So if you’ve got a holiday to look forward to, it’s time to think about what you’re going to pack. I’ve put together this list of travel fashion essentials to help you.
A cool backpack
Whether it’s going to be your hand luggage or you’re packing all your adventure essentials in one, a backpack is first up on my list. It’s a must have for any type of travelling and it’s not just functional, it’s fashionable too.
My backpack of choice is usually my Fjallraven Kanken. I went with the laptop bag as I work remotely so it fits my Macbook and all my tech in it. I often take it on the plane as hand luggage or chuck it on the car when I head off on road trips.
If you’re off on an actual backpacking trip, you’ll need to go bigger. Try looking at large backpacks with a 50+ litre capacity. Make sure you try carrying it with all your packing inside before you set off!
Strappy high heels
If you’re planning on heading out on the town while you’re away then high heels are a must for your travels. SJP and the crew are bringing them back and making them cooler than ever before in the new series of And Just Like That.
A pair of strappy high heels look stylish and will go with any outfits. They’re perfect for dressing up jeans and a nice top or accessorising a sparkly dress. They also don’t take up much room so if you’re just taking hand luggage with you, you’ll be able to squeeze them in on top of everything else.
Statement swimwear
If you’re heading off for some winter sun, or even on a spa break, then some statement swimwear should be top of your list. For designer swimwear, the Versace Greca Border one piece is top of my wish list. It’ll look perfect round the pool, at the beach or at a beach club in Dubai or Ibiza.
If you’re more into wild swimming and you’re heading up to the Lakes or Snowdonia on your travels then Batoko is a firm favourite amongst adventurers. I’m obsessed with their orca swimsuit – so cute! If you’re looking for more of a wetsuit type vibe for swimming, surfing or paddle boarding then Roxy and Billabong do some really cool styles.
I tried wild swimming for the first time in the Lake District back in September and I’m definitely looking for more cold water adventures in 2022.
A good pair of boots
A pair of boots are essential for any cold-weather travels during autumn and winter.
Thigh high boots are the style of the season and they’re perfect for a winter city break. We usually go on a city break abroad for my birthday in March and I’m still hoping to hop over to Copenhagen this year as my trip last year got cancelled.
Thigh high boots go with everything from oversized jumper dresses to a faux leather mini skirt and roll neck jumper. Try a chunky style with a small platform. They’ll give you a bit of height but are also comfortable enough to walk around in all day.
