The Italian Lakes has captivated travellers for centuries. A key stop-off point on the Grand Tour in the 18thcentury, holidaymakers have flocked to Italy’s lake shores ever since, eager to enjoy the stunning scenery and delicious food.
The Italian Lakes region is actually surprisingly diverse. Lake Como no doubt conjures up images of glamour (in part thanks to George Clooney!) with grand lakeside villas and immaculate gardens, whilst Lake Orta has a much more sleepy, laid back vibe.
In between them, Lake Maggiore can also boast the beautiful gardens of Lake Como thanks to the Borromean Islands and other fine lakeside villas but it is also much more family friendly with lots of water-based activities and beaches for children and teens to enjoy. And Lake Garda over in the east ticks both boxes with some beautiful lakeside towns and villages but with the added entertainment of big amusement parks such as Gardaland on offer too.
Today we thought we’d share with you our guide to the top villas in the Italian Lakes. We think we’ve found the perfect Italian Lakes villas for everyone, whatever your group size, taste and budget.
