Seriously, you don’t have to play the Lottoland lottery or win a jackpot to enjoy some of the best food Manchester has to offer.
In this article, I’ll take you on a culinary journey through the Northern Quarter, highlighting some of the best affordable eats that will tantalise your taste buds without straining your wallet.

Common Bar
As one of Manchester’s early establishments in its Northern Quarter, this bar was an early adopter of trendiness in the area and predates many options available today. Over time, they’ve had renovations and expanded.
Still, its popularity remains the same, making it an exceptional spot to enjoy a reasonably priced lunch with delicious brunch offerings, a generous burger selection, and Asian-inspired creations such as Kimchi Slaw. Before leaving, don’t forget their exquisite cakes and donuts. Their amazing flavour combinations make for a delightfully tasty treat!
Kabana

No list of affordable dining experiences would be complete without acknowledging the many acclaimed “rice and three” curry spots for an enjoyable lunch experience. Famous local music studio Oscillate Recordings has always had an affinity for Kabana – not least due to its convenient proximity.
Priced at approximately £6, the traditional “rice and three” option offers you three of the day’s curries generously heaped onto one plate with rice. Kabana provides an exquisite and appetising dining experience.
Still, reserve this one for when you can relax straight after eating. The portions are so huge you won’t want to do anything else afterward!
For lunch on the go, opt for one curry bowl and maybe one chapatti. In particular, their famous 50p samosas make the visit worthwhile, offering generous dunks into the mint sauce and other delectable chutneys.

Arrive early as it gets busy at Kabana, and you may not be able to get a seat. Don’t be caught out!
