With a luxury feel, panoramic views over the Mediterranean Sea, and one of the best buffet breakfasts I’ve ever seen, Athena Royal Beach Hotel is the perfect accommodation for a holiday in Paphos, Cyprus. It has a beachfront location, rooftop terrace bars, a spa and a selection of stunning freshwater swimming pools.

Location
The Constantinou Bros Athena Royal Beach Hotel has a great location on the seafront in Kato Paphos. The beach here is a rocky beach and there’s a jetty you can use to dive in or just to sunbathe on.
From the hotel, it’s a 15-minute walk to the harbour and a Blue Flag beach along the seafront which makes for a fantastic start to the day. The hotel is a short drive away from archaeological sites like the Tombs of the Kings and the UNESCO mosaics which you can’t miss if you’re in Paphos.
There is ample free parking at the hotel for guests so, if you’re planning to hire a car to explore some of the more unusual things to do in Paphos, you won’t need to worry about where to leave it. If you’d prefer to explore the Paphos area on public transport, there’s a bus stop a few metres from the hotel entrance.
Facilities at Athena Royal Beach Hotel
The Athena Royal Beach Hotel has all the facilities you need for your holiday in Cyprus. There are three outdoor swimming pools surrounded by sun loungers where you can soak up the sun.
Inside, there’s a spa with two saunas, an indoor swimming pool, and a steam room. Treatments like massages are available to book here.
On site there is also a tennis court and boules court.
There is free wi-fi throughout the hotel so if you need to catch up on emails or post on your social media you can do so with no worries. It would actually be a great place for working remotely, if you fancy getting a bit of sunshine.
The hotel entertainment is relaxed with singers or guitar players in the evenings. Unfortunately I didn’t get chance to see any of the entertainment during my stay.
If you need a hotel that’s family-friendly, there is another hotel next door which is run by the same brand, the Constantinou Bros Athena Beach Hotel. This hotel is slightly larger with more swimming pools and children are welcome.
Rooms at Athena Royal Beach Hotel
I stayed in one of the junior suites with a sea view and the room was very spacious with an amazing view over the ocean. The room had a large double bed, a dressing table/desk, and coffee table and chairs.
There’s also a balcony with a table and chairs and a lounger to enjoy when the weather is good.
The area is home to some fabulous sunsets so, if you have a sea view room, you can relax on the balcony here and enjoy the fantastic show and beautiful skies. There are tea and coffee making facilities and I loved chilling out on the balcony with a cup of coffee in the morning.
My room also had a bathrobe and slippers so I could totally relax in the evenings. You could also go down to the spa in these.
The bathroom in the room was huge with both a bath and a shower.
Food and drink
There are five restaurants in total at the Athena Royal Beach Hotel including two a la carte spots. There’s a cocktail bar in the lobby and a rooftop bar too.
I only ate breakfast at the hotel as I was out and about sampling some of the best places to eat in Cyprus during my stay. However, the breakfast on its own definitely deserves a mention.
The breakfast at the Athena Royal Beach Hotel was one of the best breakfasts I’ve had at any hotel. There was such a variety of items that there really was something for everyone.
There was a selection of traditional Cypriot breakfast pastries and foods, alongside cooked breakfast options, meats and cheeses, cereals, crepes, and fresh fruit juices. There was also an omelette station where you could choose your filling and the omelette is cooked fresh in front of you.
