Distance: 6 miles
Time: 2 and a half hours
Parking: In the village of Near Sawrey
If you’re ready to stretch out your legs following a day in the mountains then this is a gorgeous flat walk which isn’t too taxing. We did it the day after climbing the Old Man of Coniston and it was the perfect recovery.

I was gifted my outfit from the Adidas women’s clothing range for inclusion in this post. I’m obsessed with the leopard print cycling shorts and have been wearing them nonstop for walks ever since!

The route
This route starts from the front door of the Ees Wyke Hotel in the village of Near Sawrey and I found it on their website.
Turn right from the bottom of the drive and then continue past the Tower Bank Arms.

You’ll soon see a sign for a footpath on the right which runs parallel to the road, this is just behind the National Trust’s Hill Top House, Beatrix Potter’s farmhouse and the sign says “footpath to Far Sawrey” Carry on past the path junction and keep going towards St Peter’s Church.

When you reach the road, turn right and follow the road to High Cunsey. When you reach the T junction turn left and then on the left hand bend in the road turn right and go over the stile onto the footpath.
This is next to a driveway and is marked as a footpath.

Follow this path along the shoreline where you’ll go through various styles. This is my favourite bit of the walk as you get fantastic views of Windermere as well as the Eastern Lake District Fells.
You could even have a little paddle or swim from here. There’s a rope swing along this path so be sure to jump on and have a swing here!

Eventually you’ll reach Rawlinson Nab which is signed and then the path rejoins the road at a style. Turn right and continue along this road.
When you get to Low Cunsey Farm turn left along the bridleway.

When you reach a junction of paths turn left. Just be a bit careful here – we took a wrong turning!
Make sure you only turn when the paths are intersected, rather than just the first left you come to. If you haven’t got a brook on your right then you’ve gone the wrong way!

Follow the beck on your right hand side and then at the end of the path turn right and then right again once you reach Eel House. Follow this road until you pass Dub How Farm and then turn right at the T junction.
Take the next left and follow the lane uphill. At the top you’ll find yourself back where you started.
