If you’re reading this, you’re thinking about your next big holiday. The one where the whole family comes, and gets to bake under some sub-tropical sunshine while the kids play somewhere they probably shouldn’t.

Getting everyone together for such a trip is, needless to say, a gargantuan task. So, let me make things a little bit easier for you, with some tips on how to make your next multi-generational holiday in Turkey the success you fully deserve it to be.

Finding the right destination for every generation

Your immediate priority is, of course, figuring out where to go! Turkey is a deceptively big country, and there’s a great deal of incredible places to pick from as you plan your travels.

Turkey's Turquoise Coast

My vote, of course, would be somewhere coastal. Turkey is famed for its Turquoise Coast, with brilliant sands and even more brilliant waters.

There are resort towns and cities all over this coast, any one of which could be the perfect base for your family holiday.

There is, of course, the matter of pleasing everyone. The adults may be content with an afternoon of nothing but sunbathing, but the younger ones in your contingent will be bouncing off the walls by hour one of your outward journey.

Your destination also needs to have something for them – like Antalya has the Land of Legends theme park, a stone’s throw from the beach and chock-full of family friendly experiences.

Balancing culture, relaxation, and adventure

Spending every day in a resort designed for your kids’ favourite cartoons might not sound like your own idea of an ideal holiday, but this is where the balancing act comes in. Not everyone can be pleased at once, but with some strategic itinerary planning you can ensure that everyone comes away satisfied with their lot.

For instance, staying at the aforementioned Lord of Legends might be a great way to ensure your kids feel they get their fill of the theme park, even if you only give one or two days to exploring its attractions. The rest of your week can be given to travelling more widely, eating more daringly, and most importantly, getting that sun in!

Tips for stress-free family travel in Turkey

All of this effort is for nought if your travel is stressful enough to leave everyone in a bad mood. Pre-planning is key to ensuring your trip goes off without a hitch.

During planning, check guidelines for what you can take to and bring back from Turkey to reduce any mishaps. Keeping everyone in the loop, and adding hours of contingency time to your travel, will all work to keep stress to a minimum.
