Hare, one of the dog friendly cabins at Mallory Meadows.

Luxury glamping retreat

Glamping comes in all sorts of shapes and sizes, and the glamping at Mallory Meadows is definitely on the higher end of luxurious. There are four wooden cabins and two roundhouses to choose from, with two of the cabins being dog friendly.

We stayed in Hare, one of the dog-friendly studio cabins that sleeps two adults and two children.

Facilities in the cabin

Hare is a romantic wooden cabin that’s perfectly proportioned for two people (and a pup). It’s ideal for romantic retreats or a girl’s holiday with your bestie.

The studio cabin is well kitted out with a kitchen, a large double bed, sofa, dining table and chairs, and an en-suite bathroom. Its decor is country-chic, and it feels super cosy, perfect for romantic nights in.

There is heating in the cabin which warms it up super quickly, which is lovely for when you come in from a walk. There’s a TV with Freeview channels and a comfortable sofa bed, perfect for two small children.

The kitchen is really well equipped and has everything you need for self-catering, including an oven, hob, and microwave. There’s a dining table and four chairs for you to eat at, or if the weather is fine, you can sit at the outside table.

We cooked all of our meals here as we didn’t want to leave the cabin!

There’s also a spacious en-suite bathroom with a huge shower. Toiletries are provided, and they are refillable as the owners of Mallory Meadows are mindful of trying to be as eco-friendly as possible.

The cabins all have their own private hot tub, which is secluded from the neighbouring cabins. Towels are provided for both the hot tubs and the showers, so you don’t have to worry about bringing any with you and save some space in the car.

There’s just something about a hot tub, isn’t there? It’s the perfect place to watch the sunset, gaze at the stars at night time, or just chill out with a glass of fizz in the afternoon.

There are fairy lights around the outdoor area for added romance, and the glampsite is far enough away from the light pollution of the city, so you can see plenty of stars once it goes dark.

Dog friendly facilities

We love travelling with our dog (after all, that’s why we have him!), and Mallory Meadows is great for dog-friendly holidays.

If you’re used to travelling with a dog, you’ll know how many extra things you have to bring with you. Mallory Meadows provides two dog bowls and a mat in the cabin, so you don’t need to bring these.

They also left us some dog treats, which Alfie was delighted about!

Outside the cabin is a decking area, and there’s a further outdoor area where the hot tub is. This outdoor area is enclosed, so even if your dog is an escape artist like Alfie, they shouldn’t be able to get out.

The glampsite is ideally situated for dog walks. There are paths into the next-door fields to take your dogs, so you don’t have to go far on their morning or nighttime walkies.

The bins are handily located just opposite the cabins, too, so once they’ve done their business, you can pop it straight in there.

Location

Situated near the village of Kirkby Mallory in Leicestershire, Mallory Meadows is in a secluded meadow for an idyllic escape in nature. There are plenty of walks straight from the front door, which explore the surrounding countryside and towns.

We did a lovely 9km circular route to The Windmill pub and back through the neighbouring fields. Unfortunately, the pub is closed during the week, but we continued on into the village of Newbold Verdon, where we stopped at the charming Liberteas cafe for a cup of tea.

If you’re feeling a bit more energetic than we were (honestly, I didn’t want to leave the cabin!), there’s plenty more to do on the doorstep. Head to the medieval town of Market Bosworth and visit the Bosworth Battlefield Visitor Centre to learn more about the Tudor history that the area is famous for.

Mallory Meadows is the perfect escape from it all. Great for special occasions or just a cheeky break away in the UK, cosy up with your significant other and your dog in one of the cosy wooden cabins, and forget about the rest of the world.
