Bike & Boot, Hope Valley
The Bike & Boot Inn in the Peak District is one of the most dog-friendly places I’ve ever stayed. They don’t just accept dogs, they welcome them with open arms.
Dogs are allowed in every area of the hotel, including the restaurant and even the cinema room. On arrival, you’ll find a dog blanket, towel and toy in your room.
There are miles of countryside walking routes right from the doorstep, perfect for four-legged friends. When you get back to the hotel, you can wash muddy paws in the Wadobi wash room.
Book Bike & Boot Peak District
The Peak Edge Hotel, Chesterfield
The Peak Edge Hotel is a gorgeous boutique hotel in the Derbyshire countryside in between Matlock and Chesterfield. There are beautiful rooms, a cosy bar, and a restaurant serving delicious food.
It’s the perfect place for a romantic stay for two, with your dog. Dogs are allowed in certain areas in the restaurants and there are dog-friendly rooms available.
Oakhill, Cromford
Oakhill is a beautiful Grade II listed building in Cromford, Derbyshire. There are lovely en-suite rooms available, many of which are dog friendly.
The hotel has gorgeous grounds and a lovely restaurant. We enjoyed a meal there and the food was fantastic.
For pups, it’s a short walk to the centre of Cromford village, or you can head down to the canal for a longer stroll. The train station is nearby too so you can hop on here and get to Matlock Bath and Matlock in no time.
Ringwood Hall Hotel & Spa, Chesterfield
Ringwood Hall Hotel & Spa in Chesterfield offers a pawfect place to stay with your dog. The hotel has six dog-friendly rooms and dogs can enjoy the extensive grounds and woodlands surrounding the hotel – there are 29 acres in total.
They even offer a service where you can enjoy a spa day and your dog can too! While you relax in the Secret Garden spa, your pampered pooch will be picked up and taken to a pet sitter, where they will enjoy an afternoon of exercise and a groom.
I’ve been to the spa before and it’s a gorgeous little spot with a pool, sauna and steam rooms, and plenty of places to relax.

New Bath Hotel & Spa, Matlock Bath
Situated in the seaside town that’s nowhere near the coast, Matlock Bath, the New Bath Hotel & Spa is a unique blend of historic elegance and contemporary comfort, offering a stay that’s as relaxing as it is memorable. Established in 1745, this Georgian gem is famous for its natural spring-fed outdoor lido—a rare 1930s pool that stays a refreshing (read: chilly!) 15–23°C all year round.
The hotel’s spa, complete with a sauna, steam room, and ESPA treatments, makes it perfect for unwinding after exploring the nearby Peak District trails. Dogs of any size are welcome in designated rooms for an extra £20 per pet per stay, although they can’t join you in the restaurant or lounge (guide and assistance dogs are an exception).
With riverside walks and charming local attractions on your doorstep, it’s an ideal choice for a dog-friendly Derbyshire escape.
Buxton Crescent Hotel & Spa
Buxton Crescent Hotel & Spa is the perfect escape in the heart of the beautiful spa town of Buxton. Housed in a restored Georgian building, it offers elegant rooms, full spa and rooftop-pool facilities, and easy access to the surrounding beauty of the Peak District National Park.
Well-behaved dogs are welcome, and the staff provide thoughtful touches like a dog bed, water bowl, and treats on arrival. Dogs are allowed in the lounge and bar areas, making it easy to relax with your pet after a day of walking. Obviously you can’t take your dog into the spa!
The rooms are gorgeous and the beds are extremely comfy, perfect for sinking into after a day of exploring in the Peak District. If you want to recreate that same restful sleep at home, it’s worth checking out Simba matresses.
I’ve stayed here before (although not with a dog!) and loved it. It’s a great base for wandering around Buxton or exploring the countryside.

Each cottage boasts a king-sized bed, a cosy wood-burning stove, and a Japanese cedar whirlpool bath, providing the ultimate relaxation after a day of countryside exploration. While the cottages are not officially advertised as dog-friendly, the owners are open to accommodating well-behaved, neutered dogs upon request, ensuring that your furry companion can join you on this idyllic getaway.
Although we didn’t have a dog at the time, we had the most gorgeous stay here at The Loft. It was super cosy and quiet with amazing walks right from the door. Relaxing in the outdoor bath with a glass of prosecco was a personal highlight!
Muse Escapes, Buxton
Muse Escapes provides dog-friendly 5-star holiday homes in the heart of the Peak District. Candle House in Castleton sleeps up to seven people and Foxlow Grange in Buxton sleeps up to 30 if hired as one unit, or the individual apartments can be booked separately.
These luxury cottages and apartments have a range of incredible amenities including hot tubs and log fires.
Both locations have incredible walkies nearby, perfect for tiring out your four-legged friend. Dogs are charged at £30 per stay and up to two dogs are allowed.

Darwin Forest, Matlock
Darwin Forest offers dog-friendly accommodation in some of its gorgeous lodges near to Matlock in Derbyshire. The lodges have bright and airy interiors, comfortable beds, and a hot tub.
The dog friendly lodges have a separate room with a shower for muddy paws and cupboards to store your dog’s food, toys, and medication. Towels and treats are also provided.
The park itself has a lovely setting in the middle of a forest and there are plenty of walks to explore. The lodges also have an enclosed decking area where pups can run around to their heart’s content.

Crowdecote Campsite
Crowdecote Campsite is a basic dog-friendly campsite in the Dove Valley. It’s adults-only and offers pitches with or without electric hook-up.
You can pitch your own tent or bring your campervan. The pitches are on grass and when I went it had been raining heavily and my van was sliding around a little on the grass.
I was slightly worried about getting stuck but the owners of the campsite do have a tractor so I guess you could be towed out! It’s a basic campsite with a toilet and shower block and washing up facilities and it’s very reasonably priced.
There are some great walking routes right from the campsite including Chrome Hill and Parkhouse Hill. There are also two great pubs within walking distance which, in my opinion, is the most important thing when booking a campsite.
YHA Castleton Losehill Hall
YHA Castleton Losehill Hall has a campsite in its grounds with stunning views over the surrounding Peak District countryside. You can bring your dog for free when pitching your own tent.
Campers can use the facilities of the hostel, including the self-catering kitchen, lounge, and the showers and toilets, although dogs are not allowed inside.
If you don’t fancy roughing it with your dog, you could sleep in a Landpod instead. Landpods are similar to camping, except you don’t need to put up your own tent.
Bedding is included, along with LED lighting and a cosy seating area. Landpods don’t have heating, so they are similar to a traditional camping experience, rather than glamping.
There is a £5 charge to bring your dog if you’re staying in a Landpod.
You can also hire out the Mews building or the Camping Barn here if you prefer to sleep inside and dogs are welcome in both. The Mews building is perfect for larger parties and sleeps up to 28 people.
Dogs are spoilt for choice with some fantastic walks right from the doorstep including Mam Tor and the Great Ridge.

At YHA Hartington Hall you can choose from dog-friendly glamping options including Landpods and bell tents. Both mean that you don’t have to bring your own tent and have bedding and furnishings provided.
The bell tents also have a wood burner inside and a fire pit outside to keep you cosy. Dogs can stay with you for £5 per night.
YHA Hartington Hall has a great location within walking distance of the quaint Derbyshire village of Hartington, with its famous cheese shops. There are plenty of Peak District walks from here too.

No, you shouldn’t leave your dog alone in a hotel room while you go out. The dog could cause damage or become distressed and start to bark. There’s so much to do in Derbyshire with your dog. From miles and miles of incredible walkies to enjoying a Sunday lunch in a cosy pub, there’s something for everyone. I would recommend a visit to the Heights of Abraham and a trip on the Peak District Sightseer, an open top bus.
Is Bakewell dog friendly?
Yes, Bakewell is very dog friendly. Most of the pubs, cafes and restaurants here welcome dogs and your four legged friend can join you in many of the shops. Bakewell is also a good starting point for a Peak District walk. Venture over the hills to the nearby village of Ashford in the Water or hop onto the Monsal Trail.
Is Matlock dog friendly?
Yes, Matlock is a very dog friendly town. Dogs are welcome in many of the pubs, cafes, restaurants, and shops. Some of our favourites include Bod, the Remarkable Hare, and the Mad Hatter. Take a stroll down by the river Derwent or give your pooch a run in Hall Leys Park.
Can dogs go around Chatsworth gardens?
Dogs are welcome in Chatsworth gardens and parkland. Please note, there is often livestock including sheep and deer on the estate so be sure to keep dogs on a lead. Dogs aren’t allowed inside Chatsworth House.
