Places doing takeaways in Derbyshire during lockdown
So it’s here, the news we’ve all been dreading (but expecting). England is going back into lockdown. One of the most positive things that came about last time was how businesses managed to pivot, to offer something different for the new times.
I’m really keen to help local businesses at what is such a tough time for them so I thought I’d share a list of places where you can get some yummy takeaways in Derbyshire during lockdown.
Remarkable Hare, Matlock
I ate here a couple of months ago and it was amazing! The food was delicious and the staff were wonderful. They have an eat in tapas menu which I love, as it means you get to try lots of different things.
Their street food takeaway menu is available on Friday and Saturday nights with a Sunday roast available on Sundays. The menu varies from week to week but think nachos, hotdogs and kebabs. I also saw that they had churros with chocolate orange dipping sauce on a special last week – yum!
Annie’s Kitchen, Matlock
Situated on the eclectic Dale Road in Matlock which is full of independent shops, Annie’s Kitchen will be open for takeaways during the day throughout lockdown. Offering hot drinks, sweet treats and sandwiches plus afternoon tea boxes and savoury platters, it’s the perfect place to pop in when you’re in town.
Last year they did gingerbread lattes which we indulged in on Christmas Eve. Pick one up here and then take a nice stroll into Matlock Bath for some fresh air – bliss!
I’ve had quite a few cakes from here recently as my boyf’s shop is just next door and I can vouch that they are delicious!
Butter Fingers, Matlock
For sweet treats, Butter Fingers is the perfect place. They’re open Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays from 10am until 3pm for takeaway hot drinks and cakes. I had a box of brownies and blondies from here during the last lockdown and they were delicious.
The Thorn Tree, Matlock
The Thorn Tree is just up the road from my mum and dad’s and it was a favourite place for lunch when I worked in an office. The popular local pub is doing various takeaways during lockdown including their famous pies and curries. They do absolutely epic portions so make sure you work up an appetite before you order.
The Sticky Fig, Darley Dale
The Sticky Fig in Darley Dale is remaining open for takeaways throughout lockdown. They’re open seven days a week, 8.30am – 4.30pm Monday to Saturday and 10am – 3pm on Sundays.
As well as breakfast cobs, afternoon teas, pizzas and sandwiches (in fact, their takeaway menu is huge!), they are also selling everyday essentials including vegetables, bread and milk so if you want to avoid the supermarkets, this could be a good alternative.
I actually had a brownie from there this week and it was super gooey inside – perfect with a cuppa!
The Shalimar, Darley Dale
One of my favourite places for a curry, The Shalimar offers takeaway of all your favourites throughout the year, not just during lockdown. I can highly recommend the bhuna!
The Old Original Bakewell Pudding Shop, Bakewell

Charlie’s Bistro, Baslow
Charlie’s Bistro are offering two different takeaways – Sunday lunch served 12noon til 5pm on a Sunday and pie night 5.30pm – 8pm. I particularly like the sound of pie night where you can choose from steak and ale, fish pie and chicken, leek and pancetta pies amongst others – yum!
The Coolstone, Eyam
This bar and bistro in the heart of the Peak District does amazing cocktails. I’ve not been here yet but I’ve seen lots of people on Instagram trying it out so it’s firmly on my list. Their takeaway menu includes burgers, a butter chicken curry and fish and chips. I really like the sound of the OMG fries.
Takeaway is available all week.
The Maynard, Grindleford
The Maynard offers weekend specials on Friday and Saturday evenings, Sunday lunches and afternoon tea as well as a selection of desserts and wines which you can pick up with any takeaway orders. They also offer deliveries within a five mile radius.

The Blue Bell, North Wingfield
We discovered this place on our last lockdown during our daily exercise as it’s on one of our walking routes from our house. I’ve never eaten there but they’ve got a lovely large outside area which looks fab for enjoying a couple of proseccos in summer.
Their takeaway menu is on offer from Thursday to Sunday and features classic pub meals like scampi and chips, pie of the day and sausage and mash. They also offer daily specials and a roast dinner on a Sunday afternoon.
Tickled Trout, Barlow
I absolutely love the Tickled Trout, it’s one of my favourite dog friendly pubs in Derbyshire. We’ve been here a couple of times on New Year’s Eve and I love the cosy atmosphere. They are also specialists in pizzas – my fave!
Their takeaway is available Thursday to Saturday 5pm – 9pm and consists of their famous pizzas, burgers and small plates. Their amazing truffle and parmesan fries are available as a side.
They also have the TT @ home option where they provide dishes and instructions for you to finish them off yourself at home. These include lasagne, cottage pie and, of course, part baked pizzas.
Pizza Pi, Chesterfield
If pizza’s your thing (and it is mine!) then forget Dominos and Pizza Hut. Pizza Pi is the real deal. I went a few weeks ago with my besties and was blown away by the wood-fired pizzas – they are incredible! They’ve been offering takeaway for a while, not just lockdown-specific, and I can also recommend the three cheese fries. Let’s just say they’re not stingy with the cheese!
Pizza Pi offer collections and deliveries from 4pm each evening, available to order by calling or through the CityGrab app.
One of Chesterfield’s newest cafes, Birdcage has a lovely outdoor seating area and has quickly become known for its yummy cakes and coffees.
During lockdown they’ll be offering very Instagrammable sharing platters for 2-4 people for £15.95. The platters include meats, cheeses, olives and hummus. The perfect nibbles for a special occasion!

Maison Mes Amis, Chesterfield
Maison is one of my favourite places for bottomless brunch and they’re doing lots of different options for both collection and delivery including Sunday lunches, afternoon tea and even three course meals.
I’ve also seen some pictures of their mussels and chips that they’re doing as a takeaway special and it looks spot on!
Odyssey is the cutest Greek restaurant in Chesterfield, it’s just like being in Greece! They are offering a Greek street food menu to takeaway during lockdown including classic Greek dishes like gyros, moussaka and Greek salads. I love their gyros and the portions are huge!
The Spread Eagle, Chesterfield
I’ve yet to try The Spread Eagle but it’s on my list! They are doing three course takeaway Sunday lunches from 12noon until 5pm on a Sunday for collection and you can order by Facebook message or by emailing them.

They’re taking orders through their Instagram, Facebook and over the phone and offering delivery to Duffield, Allestree, Little Eaton, Quarndon, Hazelwood, Milford, Darley Abbey, Mackworth and Belper.
This award-winning restaurant is just near Pride Park (aka the home of football!) and I’ve popped in after football for dinner a few times and I’ve also had brunch there.
They’re doing a takeaway menu to collect which includes classics like fish and chips, lamb shank and a vegan Kerala curry which sounds amazing. It’s available for collection all week from 12noon until 9pm or delivery through Deliveroo, although there’s 15% off when you go and pick it up.
F’coffee are doing takeaway cake boxes on weekends during lockdown. I had a blondie from the Matlock Bath branch during the last lockdown and I can confirm it was super fudgey and delicious! They’re also doing burger nights too – burgers and blondies, what a combo!
