My Last Minute Honeymoon Buys
So, in just under three weeks I will be jetting off on my honeymoon with a brand new husband in tow! We have booked the most amazing holiday (if I do say so myself!) to treat ourselves after all the stress of planning (and saving for!) a wedding for almost two years and to reward ourselves for all our hard work this past year.
Not content with one honeymoon destination, we’ve opted for two! We’ll begin our epic holiday in Florida, in the good ol’ USA where we will spend a week exploring the world’s finest theme parks and (hopefully) meeting Mickey Mouse himself. This is the hubby-to-be’s pick. Burning like a lobster in the sun and getting super bored super quick whilst sunbathing, he didn’t fancy a two week relaxation holiday.
So the second week was my choice! Just an hour’s flight from Florida is Nassau, the capital of the Bahamas. Here we will relax hard, fuelled by all inclusive food and cocktails, not to mention a really good book. If I can tear myself away from the sun lounger then I will definitely try my hand at some watersports. My friend told me that if the watersport activities were anything like the experience she had with Kite Control Portugal, (a kitesurfing school that she took part in during her vacation last year), then it would definitely be worth leaving my sun lounger for. She said it was the best thing she’s ever done and would do it all over again if she had the chance. Maybe I should give it a go, it is my honeymoon after all. I definitely want to make the most of it.
Obviously a girl needs clothes for her holiday and, although I do have a lot of summer clothes already which are suitable, I have been buying bits and pieces to fill in the gaps in my wardrobe. Taking a much-needed trip to the shopping mecca that is Meadowhall in Sheffield last night, we returned home laden with bags.
Here’s what I came home with:
Ok, so there are your flip flops for day time and then there are your beach flip flops. Havaianas definitely fall into this category. You can get them wet, sandy and sun drenched and they last and last. In my opinion, you should definitely buy a new pair for every holiday, especially as they bring out newer and cuter styles every season. I picked up these cuties with this gorgeous pattern on the top. The straps are gold which should really pop once you get a tan. My favourite part about them is that they come in super small sizes so, if you’ve got small tootsies like me, you’re bound to find a perfect fit. They’re so popular they even have their own pop up store in Meadowhall now.
Parka in a Packet (£9, Primark)
This is not glamourous in any way, shape or form. But it is entirely necessary. During the summer in Florida, it can be stormy and there’s no way I’m getting my hair wet whilst waiting in the line for the roller coasters. Mr P and I bought matching coats in bright blue – well, if it’s good enough for the Beckhams, it’s good enough for us. Mine even folds into a tiny package so it will fit nicely into my favourite day trip Kipling bag. I didn’t take a picture of me in it, as even I can’t rock this.
New skinnies (£26, Dorothy Perkins)
You can never have too many pairs of jeans and I was in need of some really skintight skinnies. I hate the ones which bag around the knees/ankles, especially as I’m really small – this always makes me look even smaller! I feel like a proper grown up as I seem to have graduated from cool student favourite Topshop to mums’ favourite and fellow Arcadia store Dorothy Perkins. They seem to be similar quality though and about £15 cheaper! Can’t wait to wear these, they’re perfect with heels for drinks or dressed down for day time.
