March and April events
March and April have been a couple of really busy months for me as a blogger and I’ve been to lots of events. Here’s a little round up of all the events I’ve been invited to in the past couple of months.
Nottingham Meet Up
I met the lovely East Midlands bloggers at Copper City in Nottingham at the beginning of March. They kindly let us have the upstairs bar for our meet up and the interior has plenty of copper, as the name would suggest! It’s a great place for coffee or a couple of drinks and lunch. I indulged in a glass of wine and the prawn and crayfish sliders which were amazing! It was a super chilled meet up where we just chatted and there was a raffle. Huge thanks to Sophie from Sophie In Wonderland for organising the event.
Intu Nottingham Spring Style Event
Next up was the Intu Nottingham Spring Style Event which took place at the shopping centre. This was my first event at Intu Nottingham and it was a really good event, a great crowd of bloggers and super fun. The day started with prosecco cocktails at Rizzoli (I had the passion fruit one – YUM!) and was followed by a fashion show showcasing the best of the high street’s spring style.
After this we were given a £20 gift voucher to use in the centre and we had to buy something for one of the trends of the season. I got nautical stripes and I’m ashamed to say that I completely failed the challenge! As someone that usually thrives under pressure I completely fell apart as we spent 40 minutes scouring the shops to find something to fit my trend. I got back late and empty handed! Luckily I got to keep my voucher and headed to River Island after the event and picked up a kimono for my holiday to Portugal at the end of this month.
We were then treated to a late lunch at Handmade Burger Co where I miraculously stuck to my holiday diet and had a bunless piri piri chicken burger, salad and jalapeno slaw. The service wasn’t great but it did nothing to dampen the great event and it didn’t matter as we had plenty to chat about while we waited.
Bodega Derby Preview Event
This was my favourite event so far this year! I got to bring my lovely boyfriend along with me to the brand new Bodega on Sadler Gate in Derby. The South American restaurant is super cool inside – it’s all bright colours, Mexican Day of the Dead imagery and pictures of Mexican wrestlers – and we loved it. The ground floor is a bar where they do two for one cocktails in the evening and the upstairs is a restaurant area which can be hired out for private events and I think it would be perfect for a birthday party for around 20 people.
We were greeted with a margarita each which is my favourite cocktail and they were flowing all night which almost made me cry as I was driving! I was offered a Citrus Fizz mocktail which was absolutely amazing – just like a none-alcoholic mojito. We then really chowed down on delicious nachos, pulled beef and pork tacos, quesadillas and churros for dessert. The food was absolutely amazing, all really fresh and homemade and about a million times better than some Mexican chain restaurants. The staff were also lovely and chatty and we had a really lovely evening.
Kiehl’s VIP Blogger Launch Party, Highcross Leicester
I zipped over to Highcross Leicester after work on Thursday for the Kiehl’s event and I have to say I was a little bit late (ok, about half an hour late – oops!). It’s getting to be a little bit of a bad habit for me, as I’m so busy I’m always rushing from one appointment to the next – so huge apologies to everyone! The event started with a Kiehl’s workshop on the Kiehl’s bus where we tried out lots of products, including the new Midnight Recovery Botanical Cleansing Oil. I was trying out all the products on one of my hands and it looked about 20 years younger and a million times brighter than my other hand by the end of the night! We were also given a goody bag full of samples and were taken around the Kiehl’s counter in Debenhams where I had to keep my credit card firmly in my purse – Kiehl’s might be becoming my favourite skincare product!
