It doesn’t take too long to save up money for a short one week or two week trip, but you’ll probably find that your personal finances become stretched once you plan to go away for longer than that. That’s why it makes sense to earn money whilst you travel. You can fund your trip endlessly if you really commit to working in your spare time. These are some ideas if you’re thinking of freelancing to make money on your next long trip.

A great way to make money whilst on the move is to start a blog. If you’re seeing new sights and learning new things, then you should share that information with the world. Not everybody has the money or the time to travel, so they have to experience new places vicariously. By starting a blog, you could build up a big following and start making money from adverts and sponsored deals with companies who want to promote their products or services to your followers. Obviously, you need to treat this like a proper career. And when you become self-employed, you need to adopt a business mindset, too. You’ll definitely need to keep your finances in order. But this could be a very good way to make money and have fun whilst doing so. Your trip would essentially be funding itself.

Maybe you’re a creative individual who likes to write, or maybe you’re just a very skilled people person. Either way, you could make money from marketing. This is one of the biggest industries for freelancers because it’s so broad. Companies are always looking for talented people to help them sell products to customers or simply promote their brands effectively. You could write copy for businesses or help them to design captivating adverts if you’re skilled at graphic design. Or maybe you could generate leads and help businesses to gain clients.

The point is that you don’t need to be in a fixed location to sell things. As long as you get results, companies will be happy to work with you. If you can get a contract with a business, then this could help you secure your income in the long-term. Obviously, if your career/business is going to be based entirely online, then it’s important to keep your data safe. You might want to figure out how to find your IP address on a Mac. If you use a VPN, then you can change your location and encrypt your information to protect yourself from hackers.

Here’s a slightly different kind of freelance career. If you’re gifted with linguistics, then this could be a very great way to explore different countries and make money whilst you do so. You could teach English in other places and experience new locations at the same time. It’s a win-win situation. Obviously, you’d need to get qualified before you started teaching. Still, it’s well worth the hard work if you want to travel for an extended period of time. This could be a great opportunity for you.
