#BookClub: Follow Me Home by Jen Benjamin*
I really enjoyed reading this book and it’s absolutely perfect for this time of year – a great summer beach read that’s easy to digest. I love novels set in America as I absolutely adore the USA and have always wanted to visit LA (in fact I’m planning a trip there for next September). Jen Benjamin is great at painting a really good picture of the restaurants, bars and houses where Katie hangs out – you almost feel as if you could have been there whilst everything was happening.
Katie is a really likeable lead character (and I always have trouble liking female protagonists!) – she’s kind of accidentally cool but awkward and geeky at the same time and her struggles are ones we all have to go through. Her marriage ends when she returns home to divorce papers, although it’s really been over for years, she misses her friends who are back home in her old hometown, and she falls for the lead actor in her movie.
This is a book about love, friendship and Hollywood and I really enjoyed reading it. The only problem is, it really made me want to move to LA to turn my best-selling debut novel into a movie…
