Best travel podcasts 2020

Best travel podcasts
I love listening to travel podcasts – I got into them a couple of years ago and now I have them on all the time. When I’m doing the cleaning, before I go to bed, in the car on long journeys, for me there’s no better soundtrack to my life.

As part of my virtual travelling series I thought I’d put together some of my favourite travel podcasts and some recommended by others to keep you busy while we can’t go actual-travelling.

Here are some of the best travel podcasts to listen to while you’re in lockdown.

Ok, so this is my fave travel podcast so far. Produced and presented by best friend Lizzy, BRB follows Eleanor’s travels around the world. Listening to this for me is like chatting with two friends, it’s super funny and Eleanor has lots of amusing stories from her travel experiences. Unfortunately there hasn’t been a new episode since November last year, so although there are two series to binge, I really hope they bring some new episodes out soon.

Travel Goals Podcast

This podcast by the wonderful Pip Jones from Pip and the City was recommended by quite a few people on Twitter including Sage Fitzpatrick from A Virtual Postcard and Jessica Buck from Journeys with Jessica. Packed full of first hand travel hacks, travel guides, and interviews with experts, this is one to inspire your bucket list.

Women Who Travel

Hosted by Conde Nast Traveler editors Meredith Carey and Lale Arikoglu, this podcasts looks at the realties of female adventure travel, including where it is safe to travel. They often have inspirational women guests too – recently they had the first female CEO of a major cruise liner on there.

All the S**t I’ve Learned Abroad

Recommended by Ian (aka Barefoot Backpacker), hosts Steph and Andrea, two Canadian expats now living in the UK and Australia, regale us with tales of things that have gone wrong during their travels. I’ve listened to this for the first couple of episodes and I love it so far. I especially like the concept because something always goes wrong when I travel so it’s nice to see the not-so-shiny side of travelling.

Travel Tales from Beyond the Brochure

Not content with recommending awesome podcasts for me to listen to, Ian also has his own! Travel Tales from Beyond the Brochure follows Ian’s travels off the beaten track with an aim to show listeners that there’s more to the world than the usual tourist hotspots.

The Thoughtful Travel Podcast

Hosted by travel blogger and digital nomad Amanda Kendle, The Thoughtful Travel Podcast is packed with stories from travel addicts about foreign languages, meeting the locals, getting lost and what we can all learn from our travels.

Not So Bon Voyage

Curious Claire has been enjoying this one while she cooks. Another one chatting about when things go wrong on the road, Not So Bon Voyage is hosted by Jules and Christine and is full of laughs.

The Outdoors Fix Podcast

Hosted by Liv Bolton, The Outdoors Fix Podcast’s aim is to inspire its listeners to make outdoor adventures a bigger part of their lives and it has had all my fave outdoorsy pals on it as guests. If you’re looking for something to inspire you to go on the adventure you’ve always dreamed about then this is it.

[…] Podcasts are also great – I love them because you can listen to them whilst also doing other things – popping a load of washing on, doing the pots, etc. Some of my favourites include BRB, Women Who Travel and The Travel Diaries. Here’s a list of some of my favourite travel podcasts. […]
