6 reasons to join a sports team this summer*
Exercise and summer go hand in hand. The warm weather means that staying in shape is much easier and more enjoyable. A great option for staying in shape and having fun while working out this summer is joining a sports team. The only suggestion I would make is find a sport you love and then you’ll enjoy yourself much more and get stuck in more. Sports can include classics such as football, netball, joining a swim team. You could even try some more adventurous sports such as motorcross. The possibilities are endless.

1. Meet new people
You might already have a fantastic group of friends, but that doesn’t mean there’s not room in your life for more. By joining a sports team, you will meet lots of new people from all different backgrounds. You’ll make new friends, be invited to more social events, and get the chance to spend time with people you otherwise may not have met.
2. Stay in shape
Playing sports is a great way to keep your body healthy and in good shape. It’s good for your mental health too – people who are active are half as likely to suffer from a mental health problem. Whether you opt to play football or polo, it doesn’t matter. The great thing about team sports is that they’re fun and exciting and are an enjoyable way to exercise. Whereas, when you’re exercising on your own, working out is nowhere near as much fun.
3. Try something new
Life can get boring, so it’s always good to try something new. If you’re in need of a little more excitement in your life, trying a new sport is a great option. Whether you’ve played before or not, it doesn’t matter. What matters is that you’re willing to take the chance and get involved in a new team.
4. Be part of a team
There’s something special about being part of a team. When you walk out of the changing rooms with your teammates all dressed in matching kits, it feels great. Being part of a team is one of the best feelings in the world – the bond between you and your teammates is one that you’ll have for life.
5. Fill your spare time
If you’ve got lots of spare time, then joining a sports team is the perfect way to fill it. Instead of spending your free time at home in front of the television, you can fill it with activities for your sports team. From practices and games to social events, when you’re part of a team there’s always something fun going on.
6. Learn new things
One of the best things about joining a team is that you’ll learn new things. Even if you’ve already tried out the sport before, you’ll still be learning new things. From the best moves to defeat the opposition to the best ways to keep yourself in peak physical shape.
