Top tips for a fantastic party*
This time next year I’ll be rapidly approaching my 30th birthday and (hopefully) I’ll have my party all sorted by then. I’ve never really had a party for a big birthday before (in fact, I let all my birthdays pass pretty quietly!) but I feel like this landmark age really deserves a good celebration. I’ll have reached 30 with pretty much all my shiz together! But whether it’s a birthday party, anniversary or even wedding you’re planning, here are some top tips to really make it the party of the year.
Food is one of the most important elements of any party (especially for me – yum!) so you need to decide what food you’re going to have, or indeed, if you want to serve food at all. My recommendation is that you definitely should! Choose from canapes, a finger food buffet, a sit down meal if you’re feeling more formal, or an outside option if your event is taking place in summer – like a pizza oven or BBQ. Whatever you decide to go for, make sure you have a tasting before your party to ensure it’s delicious!
Drink is up there on the list of important party considerations so you need to decide whether you’d like alcohol at your party or you’d prefer it to be a sober affair. A lot of venues will provide a bar and bar staff for the night but if you’re providing the alcohol yourself, I don’t think you can go wrong with champagne.
Try not to let your guests dictate your music choices and make sure you go for something that you love. There are so many options available including a DJ, a band or even creating your own playlist which is definitely a more reasonably priced option if you’re on a budget. Download all your favourite tunes onto an iPod or iPod and then ask the venue to play this through their speakers.
The fun stuff
It’s the little extras that will turn a good party into a great party and keep all your guests talking for months. A really great idea is to hire a photo booth for the evening. Photo booth hire is usually reasonably priced and worth every penny. Guests can dress up using fancy dress props and then print out the photos to keep as a momento of a great night or post them on their social media channels. Other options include a chocolate fountain, fireworks and, if you’re that way inclined, a bucking bronco!
