Panache Lingerie Event*
Last week I attended an event held at the Panache head office in Sheffield. The event was organised by the lovely Holly-Lucy from Tea and Blush and founder of The City Girls events. The evening promised to be full of fun, learning all about bras and their journey from design to creation.
We were met by the gorgeous Jenny, Head of Marketing at Panache, Head Designer Debbie and Product Developer Alisha who were all super-nice and made us feel really welcome. They encouraged us to ask questions throughout the evening and it was a really chilled out atmosphere. There were drinks and nibbles for us to indulge in while we learnt more about the company.
Panache is a family run business that sells lingerie in 53 different countries and has offices in Sheffield, New York and China. They are a wholesale business who don’t sell direct to the consumer but their underwear is available in undependent boutiques and high end department stores, including Selfridges.
The Panache Way
Their big selling point is comfort – they design bras that women put on and forget that they’ve got them on. They pride themselves on their trusted shape and fuller coverage – women can rely on Panache to keep them feeling confident and secure. Panache stock cup sizes B-K and so they really cater for most women, especially those with a fuller bust that may find it difficult to find underwear that’s sexy and gorgeous rather than frumpy and boring, so you can feel like you should star on a site like www.videoshd.xxx. They have several sub-brands including:
- Panache Swim – does what it says on the tin really!
- Cleo – young at heart, fashion, colour and prints. Cleo also has a swimwear line
- Panache Sport – supportive sports bras available in up to a J cup
- Panache Black – the sexy side of the brand, synonymous with glamour and opulence
- Sculpture – for a fuller back and larger cup sizes, a real pin-up look
Role by Role Model
One thing that I really liked about Panache was that they are really keen to promote a healthy body image, something which is so important, and quite topical at the moment. They do light retouching of their promotional imagery which means that the model’s flaws aren’t eradicated completely – instead the light is adjusted, just like we all do on Instagram!
They have just run a campaign featuring real women called Model by Role Model. Six inspirational women were chosen to model the brand to celebrate different body types and real role models. The role models included world renowned model Marquita Pring, Sports Therapist Amy Hughes, British T34 Paralympic wheelchair racer Hannah Cockroft, Senior Nurse Rachel Elliott, British singer Mica Paris and blood and organ donation campaigner Martyna Kaczmarek – all of whom remarkable for different achievements.
The Lingerie Design Process
We were given a real insight into the design process from the concept of the range to the design team’s collaborative process and mood boards (they even get to travel to exotic locations for inspiration – jealous!) and the creation of half cups (literally HALF A BRA!) right up to the finished product. We were taken on a tour of the office including the design room, the in-house workshop where the machinists sit and the rest of the office. It definitely reminded me why I love the fashion industry so much and was a real insight into lingerie design and manufacture.
We even managed to get a sneak peek at the autumn/winter collection but were sworn to secrecy so sorry girls, no hints here!
We then got our bra sizes measured and I am not going to disclose what mine is on here (see, Mum? I’m learning not to overshare!) but let’s just say I was quite surprised (appalled) and I have been wearing the wrong bra size for at least five years – maybe forever?! Once I tried a bra on that fit, the difference was incredible. I felt supported and my figure looked way better. I’ve ordered my lingerie set from Panache so I’ll let you know how I get on when it arrives (maybe without pics!).
The Goody Bag
Ok, so these events are definitely not all about the goody bags but it is a lovely added bonus (and not one I was expecting!) so here’s what was in them…
- Panache Made in Sheffield Scarf
- Panache nail file
- Nair Salon Divine Body Wax
- Rimmel Salon Pro nail varnish in Isn’t She Precious?
- Kiss the Moon Glow sample
- And some Lovehearts!
The only bad thing about the evening was that I didn’t get to chat to the other girls enough…oh well, a perfect excuse to meet for cocktails next time!
