#NWBloggerMeet, Liverpool

On Saturday I attended my first ever blogger meet in Liverpool. Yes, I know meet-ups are usually for local bloggers to get together but I live in the middle of nowhere and so nothing ever goes on around me so when I heard about this I jumped at the chance to go. I’m really trying to get my blog out there a bit more amongst the community and so going to these sorts of events is a great way to network and swap experiences and tips.

In the morning beforehand, I was super nervous. I had no idea what to expect and, after seeing the horror stories about the Bloggers Love LFW event earlier this week, I have to admit I was a little on edge. I got up really early to get myself ready, after all I wanted to dress to impress!

I was travelling to Liverpool by train and so I needed to get the bus into town to the train station as Mr P had the car for work. After 15 minutes of waiting, I got a little panicky and, when the bus finally turned up, I got a lot panicky. With just 15 minutes to go before my train left and my tickets still to collect, I practically vaulted off the bus and ran my little heart out and made it to the platform with minutes to spare – clearly all my training in the gym has paid off in dividends.

When I arrived at the train station, I met some of the other girls who were also attending the event including Holly from Empire, Kayleigh from Scampi & Chips, Emma from The Cheshire Wife and Divya from What Divya Thinks. It was lovely to walk up with these lovely girls and really put my mind at ease for the event.

The event itself was held at The Button Boutique on Bridge Street in Liverpool. It’s a sort of hidden gem as it’s a little off the beaten track and they provide arts and crafts workshops for children and adults – you can even book them for your hen do! It’s super cute inside with lots of quirky crafty decor and would make the perfect venue for a girls’ day.

Katie from Curvaceous Beauty did an awesome job of organising and running the event so massive props to her. She sorted the venue, brands to attend, a guest speaker (more on these next!) and tea and cakes not to mention the guest list and having the stress of people and cateres pull out at the last minute. Luckily the day went amazingly and everyone had a great time. Thanks so much Katie!

The event kicked off with guest speaker Georgina Grogan from She Might Be Loved. I’ve followed Georgina’s blog for a while (especially as she lives just up the road in Sheffield!) and even exchanged tweets with her (eeek!) so I was really excited to finally meet her and was definitely hoping to glean a few tips since her blog is super successful. She didn’t disappoint, giving us a great talk with plenty of SEO and content tips, but more than that she was absolutely lovely, really approachable and funny. Girl crush alert!

There were also appearances from two network marketing brands – Stella & Dot and Tropic Skincare (see my blog about their Mineral Eyeshadow Palette here). I’d never heard of Stella & Dot, who do amazing statement jewellery pieces, until last week when I got an email from another blogger asking me to host one of their trunk shows and now they seem to be everywhere! When hosting one of their trunk shows, you invite all your friends round and their stylist recommends pieces to individually suit each of you. I’ve been looking for an amazing statement necklace for a while and one of these would be perfect.

Tropic Skincare is another brand that seems to be everywhere. The company has seen substantial growth over the last 12 months and their products are reasonably priced, all natural and certified vegan.

But my very favourite thing about the event was the chatting with and getting to know the other bloggers there. Everyone was so nice and it was as if I’d made 19 new BFFs. No one was clique-y and it was just a really relaxed nice day. I really hope we have another one soon so we can catch up again!

The Goodie Bag
Ok, so here’s what you’ve been dying to know – what was in the goodie bag! Again, we were totally spoiled with these and we all couldn’t resist rummaging through them during the event. The tote bags were supplied by The Blogger Programme and were full to the brim of good stuff!
