My Wedding Make-Up

It has literally taken me so long to get round to doing this post! My wedding was five months ago now (can you believe that?!) and because I’ve had such a lot to write about since then I’ve sort of left it on the backburner – but I think it’s about time I relived the day. It’s also taken me until now to get any sort of photographs printed out but I’m also getting on that! I’ve probably been the complete opposite of a bridezilla throughout the entire experience, being totally laid back and relaxed throughout the whole thing and I’ve been so busy with the blog and work, etc, which is why I think I’ve left it until now.

Most people get their make-up done professionally for their wedding day – obviously wanting to look their best – but I’m a bit of a control freak and I love the way that I do my own make-up, so there was no way I was handing it over to someone else. Knowing what I know about my favourite (and not so favourite) brands, I would also have been too fussy about what goes on my face. I had my make-up done professionally for two of my best friends’ weddings and both times I just didn’t feel quite right although there was nothing at all wrong with my make-up in the pictures my face looks lovely on both occasions, I just like my make-up the way I like it!

So here’s what I used on the big day…

1. Elemis Pro Collagen Marine Cream*

One of my favourite moisturisers – this came from the Pro Collagen Super System and is a real classic amongst beauty lovers.

2. Benefit Erase Paste

Gotta get rid of those dark circles!

3. Dermalogica SkinPerfect Primer*

This is my all time favourite primer as it just gives amazing coverage – I usually wear this on its own in the day time.

4. Dermalogica Cover Tint*

Another Dermalogica fave – this foundation gives amazing coverage without a trace of cakeyness.

5. Vitage Colour Minerals Foundation*

Although this is technically a foundation, I use it as a translucent powder to set my liquid foundation.

6. Sienna X Cream to Powder Contour Kit

This contouring kit really helps give light and shade to the face – I put the darker colour underneath my cheek bones to create shadow.

7. Benefit High Beam

I’ve been using this highlighter nonstop for over four years – ever since one of mine and Mr P’s first dates when I went a little bit mad at the Benefit counter. I dot this on my cheekbones and brow bones to give these areas a little extra lift.

8. Rimmel London Professional Eyebrow Pencil

Having always used powder, I chose this pencil because it was super cheap and I was saving for the wedding so I couldn’t afford my usual Benefit Browzings. However, I love the well defined look this pencil gives my brows and I’ve been using it ever since.

9. Eye of Horus Nubian Brown Goddess Pencil*

This eyeliner gives great definition and stays put pretty much all day. I chose the brown one because I wanted to look quite natural on the wedding day.

10. Eye of Horus Maat Sultry Shadow*

I love these cream and brown shades and they were just perfect for a summer’s day.

11. Sheer Cover Lengthening Mascara and Lash Extending Fibres*

I didn’t want to wear falsies on the day as I wanted to keep my look as natural (but enhanced!) as possible and so I used these fibres to create voluminous but subtle lashes.

12. Living Nature Precious Pink Lipstick*

Lipstick - PreciousLipstick - Precious
This lipstick is a really beautiful colour – I love pink lipsticks and this is light, bright and natural looking all at the same time. I wore this lipstick on my wedding day and plenty of times both before and after – it’s a definite favourite of mine. (Images courtesy of Living Nature)
