My travel plans 2018
Yay – it’s time for my favourite post of the year – my 2018 travel plans. I love to keep a log of what I’ve got coming up over the year and I’m going to keep it up to date throughout this year with any new trips that come up.
Darwin Forest: One of my favourite things to say is that you can travel without going thousands of miles away from home and next week we’re heading up to Darwin Forest for the weekend. This was our Christmas present from my mum and dad and I’m really excited as the whole family are going and we’re staying in a lodge with a hot tub. I’m looking forward to swimming and long walks in the day time then relaxing in the hot tub with prosecco and playing games at night time.
Australia: Ok so this is the big one – the one we’ve all been waiting for, the holiday of a lifetime! Yes, I am heading to Australia (finally) in February. We’re flying into Melbourne, then heading to Sydney and doing the East Coast road trip in a camper van all the way up to Cairns. Find out more about my epic Australia road trip here.
We actually didn’t manage to take any trips in March. We didn’t get back from Australia until the 6th and then we had my birthday, my cousin’s hen do and her wedding so we were pretty busy.
Portugal: In April I’m heading to Portugal for my friend’s hen do. I’m hoping it’s going to be all beach clubs, cocktails and sunbathing and…not a lot else. We’re staying in the Algarve which I’ve visited every April for the last four years and I love it.
Find out why I think that Portugal is the perfect hen do destination.
Cornwall: I’m heading to Cornwall for the weekend for the Where’s Mollie Global Travellers 1st birthday event! I’m super excited as I’ll be staying in a brand new Land Pod at YHA Treyarnon Bay and I’ll be doing coasteering for the first time ever.
Sheffield: It’s my friend’s wedding in May so we’ll be staying over at the venue – Aston Hall Hotel in Sheffield. I love staying over at weddings – no worrying how you’ll get home, you get to see everyone at breakfast the next morning and you get to try out a lovely hotel.
Edinburgh: This will be my belated birthday trip to Edinburgh – we literally just couldn’t fit anything in until May. I’m looking forward to seeing the castle, Arthur’s Seat and the Royal Mile plus indulging in some delicious food and cocktails – a staple for any city break.
Falmouth: At the beginning of June, we’re off for a staycation in Falmouth with Cornwall 365. I’m super excited because we visited Cornwall last year (the first time for me!) and absolutely loved it. We’re staying at Highcliffe Falmouth, a contemporary bed and breakfast which has a five star rating on Trip Advisor and we have the penthouse views with stunning views over the harbour.
During our time in Cornwall, Bumble Campers are kindly lending us one of their awesome bright yellow campervans for the week. I’m really excited for this as it’s similar to the one we had in Australia and I can’t wait to get back on the road!
Ibiza: We’ve booked a girls holiday in Ibiza for June! We’re staying at the Hotel Playasol Marco Polo I in San Antonio and this mini break will be full of beach clubs, Cafe Mambo, and the famous San Antonio sunset. I love Ibiza, it’s my favourite little island and this will be my fifth trip here.
My guide to doing Ibiza in your 30s is here.
I did want to fit a little holiday to Santorini in around here at some point but my diary is getting busy and it’s looking increasingly difficult!
North Yorkshire: As all my inner circle turn 30 this year we wanted to celebrate and so we’ve booked a lodge in York with a hot tub. I’m looking forward to plenty of prosecco, cooking meals and cosy nights in.
Spain: Because I was so busy this year, we decided to move our annual family holiday in Portugal back to September (it’s usually April). Oh, and we’ve also moved the venue! We’ll be staying in this AMAZING villa in Javea, Costa Blanca in Spain thanks to Interhome. I’m looking forward to eating BBQs and chilling by that amazing pool.
Snowdonia: I have seen Snowdonia on just about every travel blog that I follow this year and so I was really excited to be invited along to Canolfan y Fron, a new, lottery-funded bunkhouse in Snowdonia. I’m looking forward to some autumn walking and we may even attempt Snowdon if the weather is good.
