So this week I made it to the pre-London Fashion Week pamper party, which I mentioned last week on the blog, at the Red Bull Studios in London. A full day of gorgeous treatments from the best brands, I really loved every minute of getting pampered in between sipping Red Bull smoothies, slices of healthy pizza and snacks of Propercorn. So here’s my round up of what went down on the day.
1. Dermalogica Face Mapping
My first treatment was with experts from one of my favourite skincare brands, Dermalogica (look out for a review of their new Redness Relief Primer coming soon!). I’ve tried lots of their products before for reviews on the blog and for the Tried & Tested feature at the magazine I used to work on. However, I’ve always used them sporadically and have never had any advice on what’s best for my skin. I’ve got really oily skin and my problem areas are my forehead and chin and the therapist suggested a course of cleansers, moisturisers and exfoliants which should work best with my skin type.
The goodie bag: Dermalogica Our Favourites – this little pack includes all of Dermalogica’s best products in miniature including PreCleanse and SkinPerfect Primer – my ultimate favourite primer.
2. Spa & Massage Energy Boosting Massage
Next up was a massage from the lovely girls at Spa and Massage. They have salons all over London and I opted for the relaxation massage which took place on a chair. It was so relaxing that, even though the studios was obviously quite noisy and packed with excited journalists, bloggers and models, I almost fell asleep. I finished off the massage with a blend of special tea which had cinnamon and some other healthy but actually delicious ingredients – it reminded me a little of a cleansing version of mulled wine!
The goodie bag: £5 vouchers and £5 off discount card for a treatment at one of their locations in London.
3. CND Shellac
I was booked in to have Vinylux as there weren’t enough Shellac appointments for me to grab one but the lovely Sam, nail tech extraordinaire and educatorfrom CND, upgraded me. Shellac is definitely my long-term manicure product of choice as I adore the colours and the fact that it’s chip free and can last up to two weeks if you look after your nails properly. I had the gorgeous Field Fox which is a lovely nude-y grey neutral shade.
The goodie bag: CND Solar Oil – the nail and cuticle conditioner which smells amazing, it leaves me sniffing at my nails for hours after a treatment! There was also Vinylux in Wildfire red and a bottle of topcoat.
|Psst – I got a sneak peek at the brand new CND colours – isn’t the sparkly pink one outrageous? I love it!|
4. Sebastian Big on Bounce
I made my way over to the hair styling station to get my big bouncy blow dry from the Sebastian Professional stylists. My hair looked amazing afterwards, really large curls with plenty of body which looked natural and soft. The stylist made it look super easy, just using a styling brush and hairdryer plus lots of lovely volumising products but I know for a fact I’d never be able to replicate it at home!
The goodie bag: Sebastian Professional Stylbrid 9 – this micro mousse spray can be used on wet or dry hair for a multitude of tasks including volumising and heat protection.
5. Pixi by Petra The Pixiglow Make Under
I wish I had a make-up artist to get me ready every single day. These lovely products made my complexion super-dewy but none-greasy and completely flawless. Their hero product is their primer which gives a beautiful glow and I heard quite a few bloggers and journalists raving about it on the day. This make-up look included bronzes and creams for the eyes as well as glossy black mascara and eyeliner which looked super natural and absolutely perfect for a day time look.
The goodie bag: Shea Butter Lip Balm, Endless Silky Eye Pen and the brand’s hero product Flawless & Poreless Primer.
6. Eylure Lash Lounge
On my visit to the lovely ladies at the Eylure Lash Lounge, I made a confession. I used to wear false lashes all the time and I’ve stopped wearing them to the point where I pretty much never do anymore. I’ve made the point a couple of times that it’s because I prefer the natural look now, and this is true to some extent, but it’s also because I’m super lazy. I can never get them even and then I can’t be bothered to mess around with them so it’s easier not too. The wise ladies at the lash bar gave me a knowing look and trimmed the lashes to almost half their size. I was incredulous but it seems this is the trick – measure the lashes properly and be brave and trim them down to size! They fit perfectly and looked natural, full and voluminous.
The goodie bag: No 143 Exaggerate, their newest lash design. They look super thick and a little feathery so I’m looking forward to wearing them on a big night out.
