It’s up to you, New York, New York! Your guide to The Big Apple*
New York City happens to be one of the most common places people want to visit and you will find it on many bucket lists all over the world for lots of different reasons, which is why I wanted to share with you some of the top tips and information regarding this fabulous city. And maybe you’ll add it to your own bucket list too!
Where could you stay?
When it comes to deciding on where to stay you really need to consider what you want to do while you are there. You need accommodation that is going to suit you logistically so being close to a subway station might be handy or even considering places like Ithaca Marriott Downtown on the Commons where you can really be in the heart of some of the action this city offers. You might also want to consider whether you want all the facilities that a hotel offers or whether you’d be happy to consider renting an apartment or Airbnb which would give you more flexibility in terms of cooking and a more relaxed, home-from-home vibe.
What should you do?
There are so many things to do in New York that you might want to narrow your list down by deciding on some of the best things to do while you are there. There is so much to see and you really can’t miss the well-known sightseeing opportunities if it’s your first time in the city. For amazing views of the city check out the Empire State Building, the Statue of Liberty and the Rockefeller Centre. There is also a memorial where you can go and pay your respects to the 9/11 victims where the Twin Towers once stood. You could also take in a Broadway show in the evening, with some of the most amazing and talented acts starring in well-know theatre productions here. However, many people travel to New York for the shopping and I don’t blame them. With amazing department and flagship stores like Macy’s and Bloomingdales, you are spoilt for choice.
When is the best time to go?
You also need to think about the best times to go and visit. In terms of best value for money you will find that some of the cheapest rates can be found from mid January through to the end of the February. If you are hoping for good weather then April through to June and September through to November will offer you mild temperatures but it is also not overwhelming in terms of tourists. December is obviously heaving with tourists but Christmas in New York is truly magical. It all depends on exactly what you are wanting from your trip.
Who should you go with?
Finally, you need to figure out who you would want to go with. This type of holiday would suit anyone. You could go as a couple wanting a romantic getaway – strolls hand in hand in romantic Central Park and enjoying fine dining restaurants. Maybe you want to go with a group of friends so you can really enjoy the shopping experience. You could even go as a family as there really is plenty to do for all ages.
I hope that this has given you some insight into New York and inspired you to consider it for your next holiday.
