It’s that time of year again!
And no, I’m not talking about the World Cup where we lose our men for four whole weeks to watching England get beaten, where we daren’t say “don’t worry babe, it’s only a game” and where they really start to care about countries you didn’t even realise had a football team. Iran, anyone? (I’m actually just moaning for effect, I quite like football really!)
No, I’m talking about wedge time! Yes, girls, it’s time to buy/dust off a pair of staple wedges to take you through until the leaves start to fall again.
Wedges are officially my favourite choice of footwear. I don’t necessarily think they are the prettiest of shoes, they’re not as dainty as regular heels or even ballet flats, but they combine comfort and style in the best way.
I bought these tan strappy wedges from New Look a couple of weeks ago for my best friend’s hen do. She had planned a day at the races followed by dinner and a table at Cuba de Revolution and so I knew I was going to be on my feet all day long. Another good friend, and a regular at the races, advised us girls that wedges were the best choice for footwear and I didn’t need an excuse to purchase my summer faves.
There were only £25 from New Look at ASOS – no, I didn’t realise that ASOS stocked New Look stuff either, although I should have guessed, the giants that they are! New Look is fast overtaking Primark as my go-to shop for budget basics. They’re a similar price and I think a lot better quality and more fashionable. I popped in last weekend to get a last-minute outfit and they had some gorgeous bright summer pieces.
These wedges were comfy for the whole day and I’ve barely taken them off since. I’ve worn them for work, dinner, drinks (they’re not really high enough for a night out at a club), in fact literally everywhere I’ve been.
And the best thing about them? They’re exactly the same shade as my Mulberry bag!
