Cranes Cranberry Cider review*
I was super pleased when I opened this package on a Friday evening – Cranes Cranberry Cider! I really enjoy a fruit cider, especially in the sunshine – it’s the perfect drink for sipping in beer gardens or on your patio during the summer (well, what we’ve had of summer so far!).
Cranes comes in three different flavours: Original Cranberry, Raspberry & Pomegranate and Strawberry & Kiwi, and Raspberry & Pomegranate was our favourite of the three. The ciders are 100% natural and contain a high percentage of juice (16.5% to be exact!), 4% alcohol and – this is the very best bit – only 99 calories. This makes them absolutely perfect for if you’re on a diet for your summer holiday like I currently am.
This cider is the first premium cranberry cider and it’s brewed purely from crushed cranberries with added juice for more flavour.
To be completely honest, I wasn’t bowled over by the taste – it was a little medicinal. But the health benefits make it a really good alternative to other fruit ciders which are notoriously bad for you. They have very little added sugar – only 5g – which they manage to do by using stevia leaf which is 30 times sweeter than sugar.
Of course, they’re not claiming that an alcoholic drink has health benefits but if you’re going to drink (in moderation) – and let’s face it, who doesn’t like to wind down on a Friday night?! – you might as well go for the low cal option.
Cranes is the brainchild of Ben and Dan, identical twins from Cambridge who are only 25 (this is the point where I stop and really look at my own life!). Having always been up for a drink but at the same time both health conscious, they came up with the idea of Cranes.
Cranes ciders are stocked by Ocado and distributed by Shire Foods of Norfolk. Find out more about Cranes and their natural ciders here.
