The best burgers in York
Last week I was on a work trip in the beautiful city of York. I love York – the city walls, the lovely shops, the independent bars – and there are plenty of great places to eat in York too. We headed to Brew York which is primarily a beer hall/brewery with lots of craft ales on tap, but they also serve burgers.
One thing that I loved about it here is that there was a really small menu – all burgers and fries with different toppings. Sometimes I find that menus are too big and it makes it really difficult for me to choose what I want, so a small menu is an absolute dream. There are five choices of burger and one of these is vegetarian, plus five choices of fries.
Brew York had a fantastic atmosphere – it was pretty busy, even on a Wednesday evening, with people chatting and enjoying drinks and food. It’s super chilled as well, it’s totally ok to eat with your hands. Also, real ales were not the only thing they served. I’m not a fan of real ales so I don’t really enjoy it if I go somewhere where that’s the only thing on offer. Luckily here there were spirits and other drinks available so I went with a gin and slimline tonic.
I went for the El Cubano burger which is a beef patty topped with mojo pork, house mustard, green sauce, white onion and Swiss cheese. The burgers are served in a delicious brioche bun and all of the produce is locally sourced.
It was honestly one of the best burgers I’ve ever eaten and, while I haven’t tried all of the burgers in York, I can only assume that it is the best burger in York. I also went for the house fries which I kind of regretted after I saw everyone else’s loaded fries but they were still really nice.
Brew York is perfect for a chilled evening with a few beers and a delicious burger. Find out more here.
