Benito Brow event, Derby*

prosecco and cupcakes
A couple of weeks ago I headed to the Benito Brow bar in Debenhams in the Intu centre in Derby. Even though I’ve visited Intu countless times, I’d never heard of Benito and so I read up a little before the event. Providing beautiful brows for fashionistas and beauty addicts, Benito provides threading and tinting treatments in their brow bars. Brow bars have become super popular over the last few years, along with the focus on the eyebrow – remember the days when we just used to leave our brows to do as they liked?! – and now brow treatments are on every girl’s list for their beauty regimes.

WARNING: This post contains some VERY unflattering imagery!

I’m the kind of girl that pretty much leaves their brows completely alone, aside from plucking out the odd hair, until a great offer on HD Brows comes along, and so I was really interested to try a full threading treatment.

Best friend Emma and her beautiful brows

I brought along my very best friend Emma to the event and we were greeted with glasses of prosecco when we arrived (big thumbs up) and some delicious cupcakes (VERY big thumbs up). I’m afraid to say that I did break my diet once more for one of the sweetest cupcakes with delicious orange icing in the branding style of Benito – yum! We then had a talk from the area manager who explained to us the ethos of Benito and threading. They only use the mouth method of threading as this is more highly skilled and their therapists are all highly qualified.

Benito threading treatment

Ok, so I’m not going to lie – threading was not the most pleasant experience I’ve ever had but, if I’ve learned anything from my 28 years on this planet, it’s that beauty is pain – or should that be pain is beauty?! The middle of the brows was less painful but underneath the brows was quite sore. I had super sweaty hands and the therapist asked me to stretch the skin (which I think should make it less painful) and my hands were slipping all over the place – I’m not an ideal client! Threading is really precise so they can target specific hairs to give you a great shape. I already like the natural shape of my brows so I just asked them to do the middle and then thin out the bulb a little and make my arch more pronounced. I loved the finished shape. You’re left with a little redness, but no more than waxing.

Benito goodie bag

The goodie bag

As I say every time, it’s not all about the goodie bag but I know you like to know what’s in there! We received a free treatment which I’m going to use again very soon as my brows are getting slightly unruly. We also had a Toffee Crisp (gave this STRAIGHT to boyf to save my waistline), a lovely notebook, some perfume samples, a keyring and a bath bomb, which I’m very much looking forward to using. All of this was in the brand’s colours of bright orange and black.

Benito has locations all over the UK, so your brows are never far from care! Find out more about Benito Brows and their threading treatments here.

I am very fussy about my eyebrows and i remember the pain of getting them threaded so i tend to do them myself now but this looked like a super fun day! 🙂

I had my eyebrows threaded at Derby Debenhams years ago and I don’t know if it is because I have really dry skin but the process actually made me bleed. The stylist didn’t really seem to know what to do about this and just kept going making it worse. This obviously put me off but I may have to investigate again.

Oh what a horrible experience Emma! I know if you have sensitive skin then your skin can react to threading or waxing but this sounds as if the stylist wasn’t stretching the skin enough. My skin was definitely a little pink after the threading treatment and I must say, it was quite painful!
