Anthony John Salon event*
Last week I went to an event at Anthony John Salon in Lichfield. The event was all about showcasing the salon and their staff and hair care products to bloggers and I was really looking forward to getting some tips for looking after my mane. I don’t know Lichfield that well, it’s a little west of where I usually frequent, but Anthony John is situated in the Heart of the Country shopping village which is full of trendy boutique furniture and clothing shops and the salon fits right in.
I’ve never visited a salon like this before – it’s absolutely amazing! Situated in a converted barn, I could honestly say the salon is A LOT nicer than my house! The decor is cool and contemporary, think exposed brick walls and solid oak beams, and there is a mezzanine level, The Balcony, where clients can hang out while their colours are setting. There’s even a Smeg fridge where you can help yourself to drinks and snacks plus a coffee machine which makes amazing coffees AND syrups – vanilla latte anyone?
Salon owner and namesake Anthony John is keen that a hair cut should be a treat rather than a chore and the salon’s philosophy is to provide the very best client experience and provide beautiful, wearable styles that look great every day. When you’re in the hair dressers for three hours you need to enjoy yourself!
The event was friendly and relaxed and gave us the chance to mingle, eat canopes (excellent as I was starving after a long day full of driving!) and sip some prosecco. We could also explore the salon and visit the various different stations with the chance to talk to the stylists and pick up some tips for blow drying and up dos.
I got taught how to do a quick and easy up do. I’m rubbish at doing anything with my hair other than wearing it down and either straight or curly, plus I’m too busy/lazy to do anything that takes more than five minutes, and so this was really welcome advice (although I’m yet to actually act upon it!).
The most interesting part of the night was where we had our hair analysed with the Kerastase hair camera. This camera looks at roots, mid lengths and ends in microscopic detail and shows you how healthy or damaged your hair is. This helps the stylists to recommend products suitable for your hair concerns. I was really worried about mine as obviously I have it bleached every eight weeks which can’t be good for it but, surprisingly, it was actually quite healthy with just a few splits on the ends.
Kerastase, Loreal’s professional line, is the product line of choice for Anthony John and the attending bloggers were gifted a Getaway Kit consisting of shampoo, hair mask and protection milk. I chose the pack for damaged hair, thanks to my earlier consultation.
