5 Secret Beauty Tips

1. Sleep in conditioner

One of my favourite things to do when Mr P is away or working late is to put a hair mask on so that’s my number one in my list of beauty tips. I never tend to buy a specifically made hair mask, I usually use something that I’ve already got which can double up (there’s my love for multi-talented beauty products again!). My faves at the moment are: just using my usual conditioner, John Frieda’s Sheer Blonde Brightening Deluxe serum (I use 10 pumps all over my hair), and coconut oil. I usually tie my hair up in a ponytail and obviously make sure I wash my hair thoroughly in the morning.

2. Vaseline on the eyelashes

This is a bit of a classic, one of my favourite beauty tips, and can be seen demonstrated to full effect on Angus, Thongs and Perfect Snogging – probably the best film ever made. Putting Vaseline on your eyelashes protects them and makes them grow longer. Why? I don’t know – it just does! In fact, Vaseline is one of those total hero products – other favourite ways to use it include on the lips (standard) and applying to the soles of your feet before bed time. Sleep in your socks and you’ll wake up with baby soft tootsies.

3. Sleep in face mask/serum

As you can tell, I’m a massive fan of sleep-in beauty tips. A. They are little hassle as they do all the work while you’re in the land of Nod and B. The before bed pampering helps you to relax and you’ll end up getting an even better night’s sleep. Sleeping in a face mask or serum maximises its full effects and you will wake up feeling fresher, more toned and tighter.

4. The make-do tanning mitt

One of my best beauty tips for tanning and definitely one I’ve mentioned before on the blog. No tanning mitt? No, don’t just go bulldozing in bare-hand as you’ll be left with the tell tale orange signs of an at-home tan. Instead, find an old sock that you don’t mind getting a little, well, brown (I tend to go for Mr P’s as he has plenty of holey ones). It works in pretty much the same way as a mitt, ensuring you’ll get an even, all over tan.

5. Don’t forget hand cream

So this isn’t really a secret beauty tip but it’s super important for anti-ageing so I thought I’d include it here. Your hands are one of the first parts of your body to really show their age so don’t neglect them in your skincare routine. I tend to always apply hand cream after reading or blogging at night time when my hands are at their dryest. I also keep a moisturiser in the bathroom (special thanks to Halifax for sending me the Bayliss and Harding one that’s currently in there!) for post-washing moisturising.

    I love Vaseline and have pots of it everywhere! I hadn’t thought of using it on my feet though, I’ll have to try it 🙂 Fab tips!

    Love conditioning my hair overnight, use either normal conditioner or coconut oil remembering to put s thick towel over my pillow. Also use baseline for everything and agree hand cream is an absolute must, especially in the morning, after washing up and at bedtime. In winter I’m putting it hand cream on constantly.
